  Message: Merry Meet:
I first met Jeb at Yonder's farm in Ga. in 1993. Got to know him and his "crafting" ways there. He was always a kind brother. As with most wanderers, our paths diverged, and did not cross again until Thanksgiving of '97.
Then I ran into him at Sunken Gardens Park there. Hung out then caught up on old times etc. I was doing hair wraps and hemp jewlery at the time. Jeb usualy hung out on 6th st. or on the drag just chillin.
Austin that year was really not on his itenerary if I recall, I believe he wanted to got to Arkansas. (Monk...who used to have Stone Soup was in Austin then also). I was in Az in January when I heard about his passing from Huck and Jodie up in Nac.
I'm back in Austin, and I work as an advocate for the homeless. You can e-mail me anytime. and I will return. mail.
Your brother was way cool, and he attacked life with an ease and a flowing that a zen master would envy.

Peace Love and Light;

Message: Kirk, I was sorry to hear of Jeb's passing. Austin told me a little about it some time ago.
I just happened to log on and check out srq this evening- something I do every three months or so. Not very often. I saw your notice of the Jeb Pages and came by to see them.
  Very nicely done.

Message: Good idea, this. I still only remember Jeb as a Powell House youngster. I certainly identify with the concept (quoted under the picture of the canoe trip group), that at the time everything seems only as it should be.

I did my share of trading with Jeb over the years and several of my family members have some of his work in their possession given as gifts still.

We had our problems over the years, as all people do, especially when I quit the alcohol scene and some of the people who drank.

But never lost my respect for him, his talent, and the man himself. If he was sober, I would search him out to just hang with him.

When I got word of his passing at arizona gathering (natl.), it first seemed a rumor...   and was denied in my heart, Jeb? Nah, he was indestructible..

It took one of his exes verifying it to pound it into my stubborn head...

I knew the man for the better part of 20 years. A piece of me died with him...   Can't think of but 2 others I've said or thought that of.

I will miss him. thanks for a chance to share this, Preacher Mike

A really beautiful tribute and memorial!
I am very touched what I've seen and read on the Jeb web site.It re-sparked the memories of all the loving remarks I heard at the Memorial Service. He must have been quite a person.
You did a beautiful job. I didn't get it all yet, but I wanted to say something to you, even tho I feel inadequate after reading a few of what his friends had to say.   Hugs from Hope

My deepest sympathy for the loss of Jeb. He sounds like someone I would have loved to have met and befriended. The circumstances surrounding his demise are not uncommon in this country. Emerson said that: "He who would be great must be a nonconformist". The spirit of liberty that breathed in Jeb lives on! FYI - There are strict time limitations with regard to tort claims if you are so inclined. I believe that those who had the custody of Jeb were responsible for his life.

            Sincerest regards,
            Scott Thurston

I would just like to say that I saw your brother in his final hours while at Travis County Jail. I was deeply touched when I learned of his passing and am so glad to learn that he did have a family that loved and cared about him... there are so many people that die without anyone to carry on the dignity of what his life once was and how his legacy continues to touch others. Though I didn't know Jeb personally, looking from the outside in, he was a gentle man. The memory of him is forever embedded. God Bless his family.

Sorry about your brother. I found this site by searching for "Quaker" in newsgroups and found some postings of yours to soc.religion.quaker. I liked what I read. For info - I'm a member of Tottenham Preparative Meeting in North London.
